Bhimashankar
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva, the Bhimashankar temple is the most sought after Jyotirlingas. The temple is located in village of Bhorgiri, near Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. The temple dates back to the mid 18th century with dense forests surrounding the high ranges which also play an abode to the rare species of flora and fauna. Situated at the extreme end of the Sahayadri Ranges, this place gives a wonderful view of the world around you, the forts, the rivers and the hill stations around.
The Bhimashankar temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. While the temple dates back to the mid 18th century, the shrine Bhimashankaram finds mention in texts from the 13th century. The nearby Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular weekend getaway.
